Well my last post was Thursday evening and wow how the past 48 hours have been a total roller coaster! It all started Friday afternoon after school. I met my mom at Babies R Us to help her pick out a shower gift for Ruth and I. I was having my big baby shower Saturday and I was very excited. I also had a whole evening planned with Bryce. We were going to go to dinner at McAlisters so I could satisfy my craving for rotel and chips as well as cheese cake. Then we were going to shop for a cute spring dress for me to wear to my shower. (Bryce is such a sweetheart!) Then we were going to go home and watched Tangled. - Very nice evening planned!!
Well none of that came to past. After I left mom, I was heading home and going to get a snack because I was getting hungry and I knew dinner would be a little while later. Well I was driving down Lakeland and about to pass my school (Highland Bluff). I had a green light so I was moving at a good speed and an expedition was turning into the church on my side of the street. He apparently thought he had a green light as well because he kept on coming and the next thing I knew, was that I had been hit and pushed into the other lane. He got out of the car and asked if I was ok which I was still trying to figure out. Of course he freaked out more when he saw that I was pregnant. I was doing a body check to make sure I was all ok and trying to breath to see if Ruth was still moving. At that point in time I noticed I couldn't see - scary like 1/2 second until I realized my glasses had been thrown off and were down by my feet. (I really am blind without my glasses by the way!!) :)
Thank heavens I had 2 people stop to help. There was a couple (Lynn & Richard Evers) who were angels in disguise!! They stayed with me and helped direct traffic around me because I could not move the car because my wheel was jammed and I could not move my steering wheel. I called Bryce and tried to explain the situation without becoming a ball of tears - hard to do by the way!! While he was on his way, they called the tow truck and all the emergency people, who were there in no time and were great - super nice and friendly!!
Unfortunately, the guy said that he had a green arrow and that I had run the light. However, I know I had the green light and the 2 witnesses also confirmed my story of having a green light. I just hate that though and hope that this gets cleared up quickly. Here is a picture of my poor little car!! : (
As you can see God was watching out for me!! A few inches to the left and my airbags would have deployed and a few inches to the right and I would have been eating glass and sitting in my passenger seat. God is so good!!
Bryce arrived and he had called the doctor and explained the situation and she said to come on in so we could just make sure Ruth was ok. So off to the hospital we went. We were admitted to the ER and I was put through the works (blood, urine, physical...) They also ordered a bio-sonogram for Ruth. That lasted 45 minutes and checked and measured everything they could from my fluid to her breathing. She was doing just fine and measuring at about 6 pounds!! (All I could think was crap - I still have 5 weeks to go - slow down girlfriend!!)
After that we were moved from the ER to the labor and delivery floor and I was hooked up to a fetal monitor for her heartbeat and to measure any contractions. Unfortunately, I was having contractions that were pretty significant and they were getting closer together; like 5 minutes apart. So that meant a 24 hour stay for me and baby - just wonderful!!! So that meant no baby shower for me on Saturday. However, they were more worried about getting the contractions to stop so I was given statol - which HOLY COW is all i can say!! I was in the middle of eating a Popsicle when it hit me and I couldn't even finish the Popsicle because I couldn't get it to my mouth!! Bryce just kept chuckling at me!! All I could do was sleep so that's what I did and the contractions did stop thank goodness. But man you want to talk about the most uncomfortable sleep - with the IV in the right arm, the blood pressure cuff and big scratch on the left arm, 2 fetal monitors wrapped around my big belly plus being a little sore and stiff from the accident - not real easy to find a perfect spot!! Plus the IV of fluids making you have to pee every hour!! UGH!
But Saturday came and Bryce was the best husband and went to the shower in my stead and apparently made quite a splash - he's such a nut!! They had a great time and my mom, grandma, and aunt came to see me in the hospital and keep me company while he was having fun and eating my good food! - which by the way I still had not eaten anything since Friday Lunch!! STARVING!!! Finally the doctor came in and told me that everything looked good and the contractions had subsided so I could go home at around 4 and I could finally eat!! YEAH!!! My sweet daddy brought us Zaxby's for lunch and Bryce brought me a piece of cake from the shower for dessert!! (My two best men who bring me food!! :)
Finally at 4 we were discharged and went home!! Thank you Lord!! Bryce had saved a lot of the shower gifts for me to open and so we had a fun afternoon opening gifts and imagining Ruth in the cute little outfits. I can't say thank you enough to everyone who attended as well as a HUGH thanks to my hostesses, everyone raved about how wonderful the shower was! Too prove it, here are some cute pictures of Bryce at the shower hamming it up! LOL!!
